What is the meaning of number 19? It refers to those under judgment because they have not confessed their sin before God...

While I was in worship this evening I happened to notice the well-known verse of 1John 1:9 that says ”If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. I noticed how perfectly it seem to fit the symbolic meaning of the number 19 in the Bible. I’ve written in many other blog posts how the Bible’s chapter and verse numbers are divinely inspired, and how you can take chapter along with a verse number, from any verse, and combine them together to help understand the meaning of the combined number. For example using a verse reference of 1:9, if you take the number one from the chapter and the number nine from the verse this would help you know the meaning and symbolism for the number 19. As crazy as this sounds it’s very provable this is by God’s design and in this blog post I’ll give evidence that will help demonstrate this concept.

Number Meanings are Progressive

To help the support understanding the meaning of number 19 it’s useful to understand that the symbolism for numbers has progressive meanings, and in a sense, a series of numbers tell a story. That is, as you understand the symbolism for numbers one through ninety-nine you’ll find that number one begins with meaning about God and number ninety-nine is the last number before totality and has symbolism about last things or ends of things. All the numbers between one and ninety-nine have a progressive series of meanings that lead from basically the existence of God till the end of God’s story from 1 to 100. Knowing numbers have progressive symbolism, let’s use that to help illuminate how the number 19 fits a meaning of confessing sin and being saved. The symbolism related to number 18 through 24 speak of the existence of sin through the day of the Lord where sin will be punished.

• ·         Number 18 is related to number 666 or 6+6+6 and is symbolic of sin or evil in the world.
• ·         Number 19 relates to our need to confess our sin to be saved.
• ·         Number 20 relates to knowing that the Messiah is coming to save us.
• ·         Number 21 speaks of actually being saved or made clean/consecrated. IE 777/7+7+7.
• ·         Number 22 relates to Jesus the suffering servant who is the one who comes to save us
• ·         Number 23 God with us. IE “where two or three are gathered God is in our midst”.
• ·         Number 24 refers to the "Day of the Lord". A day of judgment (24 hours).

Symbolism for Number 19

I define the symbolism for number 19 as being related to sin and our need to confess it to be saved.  If we assume 1John 1:9 relates to the number 19, this verse would apparently be a great clue to the meaning and symbolism for the number:

Researching Number Meanings

When I’m researching to understand the meaning of a number there’s many different evidences I look at to confirm what I think it might symbolize. For example, researching the number 19, I would consider verse 19s in the Bible; chapter 19s; the 19,000th verse of the Bible; anywhere the number 19 is used in the text of the Bible: and even the 19^th items in lists if I can find them. For me to believe I have a good idea of symbolism for a number all these items should point to the same general meaning.

Do the Bible’s 1:9 verses support my conclusion?

My objective of this writing is to briefly explain what I think number 19 symbolizes and gives some evidence for it. I’m not going to attempt to go over all of these different kinds of evidences here. I invite you to research some of these items yourself if you’re so inclined.

So let’s look at the Bible’s 1:9 verses -- there’s 65 of them. I’ve reviewed each of them and selected some of the most obvious examples that support what I believe the definition to be. The ones not shown here support the definition but in less obvious ways. I don’t include all of them here because I’ve found that trying to present too many evidence examples seems to confuse rather than to clarify the concept.

Concluding, below I’ve listed a series of the Bible’s 1:9 verses that all seem to confirm that number 19 relates to sin against God that is either gone without being confessed, or sin that has been confessed before God and atonement made. Unconfessed sin results in punishment were confessed sin with atonement results in salvation. In the Old Testament atonement meant sacrifices, in the New Testament atonement means accepting God’s sacrifice of Jesus Christ as atonement for sin.

Conclusion

I these examples demonstrate how these like referenced verses really do point to a similar thread of meaning about sin and the need for atonement for it. Of course, my concept of the meaning for number 19 might be incorrect, but I think it’s in the general area of being accurate. The Bible is divinely numbered and every number has a symbolic meaning -- you can read about this throughout my blog and website (http://www.amazingword.com). To briefly explain -- every digit from 1-0 (10) has a symbolic meaning and when these numbers are combined in various ways they take on a meaning that is in some way connected to symbolism for each of the digits that make up the number. In the case of the Bible's chapter and verse numbers, you will find that text for every Bible verse somehow shows the theme of both of these numbers. 

Since every verse of scripture has many number associations including; book number; cross bible verse number;cross book verse number; etc, the chapter and verse number only reflect one of multiple themes found in the text for any verse. Nonetheless, all like referenced verses will somehow include a thread of theme related to the symbolism of chapter and verse number. Since this pattern of theme exists running through any set of like referenced verses, we can study the text for all the verses in a set to discern the common theme running through them. Since we also have information related to the symbolism of the individual digits of these numbers, this also gives us a clue to the theme we should find.

What value does knowing the symbolism of like referenced verses have? By understanding patterns we can expect in the text of these verses, the themes we find guides our interpretation of scripture. For example, I believe that when Peter throws himself in the sea in John 21:7, he is actually trying to hide from Jesus because this is the first time he has seen him since he denied him three times. I suspect this account in John 21 is a repeat of how Adam and Eve covered themselves and hid from God after they had sinned (Genesis 3). I have not found anyone that agrees with me on this interpretation of John 21:7 because it is commonly thought that Peter was simply so excited to see Jesus he jumped in the water to quickly swim to him. How can we know what interpretation is more correct? By examining the Bible's 24 verses with a chapter and verse reference of 21:7 we can quickly see that the majority of them have a theme running through them related to sin.   This is not proof that John 21:7 is more related to sin than to joy, but it is evidence we can bring to help guide us to our own interpretation. Symbolism in like referenced verses helps us better understand the scriptures.

Over the years I've kept a log of many of the like referenced verse sets I've studied and below I have included my personal notes of brief descriptions of common themes I see in them. For example the list suggests that if you examine all the Bible's 60 verses that have a chapter and verse reference of 3:5 you will likely observe a large majority of them pretty clearly showing a theme pattern like what is seen in Proverbs 3:5 which is to trust in the Lord alone for your salvation.

I only offer these themes as my personal opinion of what I've seen in my studies so this list should only be used as examples of how like referenced verses help us in interpreting the Bible. This list has been gradually built over several years so it is likely that I might change my opinion of some of these themes if I were to study them again -- take them only as suggestions.

Num 22:24 the angel of the LORD stood in a narrow path...with a wall on each side

I've explained in other blog posts that evidence is overwhelming that like referenced Bible verses contain a similar theme running through them, and is strong support the Bible is supernaturally structured with every chapter and verse related in some way to a theme found in the text. This post is more evidence of these strong patterns that are found in every chapter and verse combination in the Bible.

13 of 17 of the Bible's 22:24 verses contain a parallel theme of dispute, contention or anger - the other 4 may as well...

See for yourself if you don't see a preponderance of evidence that the vast majority of the Bible's seventeen 22:24 verses contain some reference to disputes, anger or contention of some kind. I've arranged all 17 of these verses (shown below) in order of relative clarity of reference to this theme. I was led to this discovery through the verse at Numbers 22:24 where the LORD (Jesus) was confronting Balaam and blocking his path - Jesus is the narrow door...Luke 13:14 "...enter through the narrow door". By recognizing this pattern, it helps show how verse 22:24 combination's often contain examples of how Jesus sometimes confronts us and blocks our path -- and yet at the same time is still there to save us.

Number Symbolism

In addition to the obvious relationship in number/text themes, it is also interesting that the symbolism for #22 is that of Jesus the lamenting servant who came to save us; and number 24 is often related to the "Day" of the LORD (Matthew 24:42, the 24,000th Bible verse). It is not difficult to see the symbolism for both these numbers in the text of the Bible's 22:24 verses.

#6, #66 and #666 - numbers of sin, repentance, evil, and wickedness

#666 - a number of great sin and repentance

The Bible’s number 6 is found related to sin and repentance from sin. One good evidence for this theme can be found in Joshua, the 6th book of the Bible, that shows Israel finally prepared to accept God’s ways and enter the promised land -- repenting. I often refer to #6 as the “crossing over” number as there are many references to crossing over in text related to number six. In Joshua, Israel crossed over the Jordan and in Genesis 6 God was finished with man and sin and began preparing Noah and his family for crossing over (the flood) to save them from sin. Crossing over water is symbolic of redemption. #666 can be seen as a super six number and is often found related to evil. For some evidences of the theme of #6, consider the following few examples of the Bible's 42 verses with chapter and verse number of 6:6. I contend it is no coincidence these verses and their text are associated to #6 and #66...

Gen 6:6 The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

Exo 6:6 "… 'I am the LORD…I will deliver you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.
 

Num 6:6 'All the days of his separation to the LORD he shall not go near to a dead person.
 

Judg 6:6 So Israel was brought very low because of Midian, and the sons of Israel cried to the LORD.
 

Neh 6:6 …"It is reported among the nations...that you and the Jews are planning to rebel...
 

Est 6:6 …And Haman said to himself, "Whom would the king desire to honor more than me?"

If you can imagine the above verses and how they might be related to sin and repentance, now consider the more intense number for the same themes - #666.

The 666th verses of Bible books show the theme of 666 to evil and repentance

Of course, we know 666 is a number for evil and sin as seen in the verse - Revelation 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six. But there is much more evidence  to be found for the theme of #666. With the above verses of the Bible showing a relationship of number six to sin and repentance, consider the following examples where #666 is related to even more intense sin and repentance – often evil and wickedness.

There are 22 verses in the Bible that have a cross book verse number of #666, and like so many other number patterns in the Bible, this set of related verses reveals a consistent theme of the number six to which they are associated. These are the 666th verses of their respective books. I’ve only shown a few of the best examples, but if you investigate further you will find the pattern continues in one form or another throughout all 22 of these very interesting verses.

Deu 25:11 "If …a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one…puts out her hand and seizes his genitals…

1Sam 25:17 …for evil is plotted against our master and against all his household; and he is such a worthless man…

These above evidence verses are not designed to convince, but rather peak your curiosity to consider the possibility of the miracle of God’s divine numbering in the Bible – and in the world. You can’t experience this in a deep way without doing your own exploring in scripture. The easiest way to begin to investigate the theme for #6 and #666 is to ponder the overall theme of chapter sixes in the Bible and see how they relate to the concepts of sin and redemption.
